That very much sounds like a driver problem. One thing you may try first is when you get to the download page for the drivers.Select ALL on the driver page. Normally you get one selection to show up when you just click on the driver page.

Something is wrong with your driver, corrupted or just not functioning correctly. I do not have my laptop with me right now, I left it at the office with my other documentation on it. I will look up more in the morning for you.
