I'm not a new user but my question is basic enough for a new user. Actually, I've been with you ever since the Digi001. As has tended to happen from time to time over the years, I'm encountering the above message again - this time with my M-box that came bundled with my Protools LE version 8.0.4. I have a quarter inch phone jack leading from the sound source to the Line/DI input on the back of the M-box (the 02 instead of the 01 - does that matter?), and output to a speaker from a Monitor Output jack. When I play the source, the sound comes through loud and clear on the speaker.

So the M-box is on (little blue light shines) and it must be connected since one hears the usual tune Windows plays when plugging the USB from the M-box into a USB port on the computer. (Actually, as you know,the little blue light wouldn't shine if it weren't connected.) Also, the USB line itself has just been tested on another device and it works there. Finally, I can place an external drive into the same USB port on the computer, and it works. Finally, Protools LE 8.0.4 has worked on this computer for at least a year or so, not for inputting new audio as now but for editing old audio, which it would not have done if it could not recognize the device - although it's true that it has been at least a year since I imputted new audio, if I ever did on this computer. The great bulk of my audio dates from the Digi001 and another computer.

So what could be wrong? Thanks for your help.
